What We Offer

At Franklin Iron Works, we manufacture ductile iron castings which are utilized in many different forms: farm implement, trucking, piping, valves, tools, constructions, and more.

The manufacturing process takes place in two-on-site plants which slightly differ due to plant equipment.

Our History

clientuploads/photos/franklin_tommie_400w.jpgIt all began with Tommie Corporation, a family owned business founded by the late Manly Tommie, which first opened its doors in Thorsby, Alabama in 1975.  Since it's inception and as President for over 20 years, Allen Franklin was instrumental in Tommie Corporation's success.  And with that success one building soon led to the need for another. As the need for more modern equipment arose, a sister corporation, Franklin Iron Works Inc. was formed in 2002. And as Tommie Corporation closed it's doors, Franklin Iron Works Inc. emerged as a dominant source for quality ductile iron castings.

At present, the Franklin Iron Works facility encompasses over 67,000 square feet.  Still maintaining a family owned concept, Franklin Iron Works is owned and operated by Allen and Peggy Franklin and their daughter and son-in-law, Kellyn and Travis Vines.

We are proud to be located in the Thorsby, Alabama community that continues to support our growth.

While we definitely enjoy the results of our past success, Franklin Iron Works is constantly looking for ways to improve our efficiencies which in turn, reduce our long term costs.

We are committed to providing a safe working environment coupled with a desire to provide our associates with a family-oriented, career focused workplace.
